Taylorville Sr. High School went on a Code Yellow (Soft Lockdown) at 11:13 a.m. on Thursday, October 19th.  A student had made a comment to another student in the hallway during the passing period about an Airsoft gun.  Student A implied that the Airsoft gun was real, and was in his locker.  Student A told the administration that he was joking with Student B. After a search of Student A and Student B's lockers it was confirmed that no Airsoft guns or weapons of any kind were in the lockers.  After a discussion with TPD, the administration determined that there were no safety concerns for THS students.   The Code Yellow (Soft lockdown) was lifted at 11:21 a.m. Taylorville Sr. High School resumed normal operations.  The safety and security of THS students and staff is always our highest priority. Thank you to the Taylorville Police Department for their assistance.

The Taylorville High School Choirs will present the annual Fall Demonstration Concert on Thursday, Oct. 5 beginning at 7:00p in the THS Cafeteria. This first concert of the year serves as a demonstration of the learning process that the students go through while preparing for the performance. In addition to several finished songs, the combined THS Choirs will present some of the warm-up and vocal flexibility exercises that are used in the classroom. The THS Choirs will be previewing several pieces of music from the Illinois Music Educators Association District 5 Music Festival, which will take place on November 18 on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. These pieces include a gospel style song called “Sing Out My Soul”, a beautiful contemporary choral piece called “The Sun Never Says”, a mashup of two popular Broadway songs called “Found/Tonight”, and the traditional spiritual “Daniel, Daniel, Servant of the Lord”.
